Head Coach - U13 AA

The St. Albert Raiders Hockey program is accepting applications for the position of Head Coach for the U13 AA Stars and U13 AA Knights for the 2025-2026 season.


We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to work with a group of young athletes to foster good sportsmanship, respect, work ethic, and skill development.





HEAD COACH RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Support on-ice and off-ice skill development.

  • Develop and implement team tactics and strategies.

  • Engage in game and practice preparation.

  • Attend all team practices, games, and events as required.

  • Build strong relationships with players, parents, and other coaches to create a positive culture.

  • Build a team of assistant coaches and other team personnel.

  • Collaborate with the St. Albert Raiders development personnel throughout the season.

  • Attend a minimum of two St. Albert Raiders Hockey program coach education meetings.

  • This position requires flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate team practices and games.


HEAD COACH QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Adaptable, flexible and growth mindset.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with players and their families.

  • Works well in a collaborative team environment with a strong ability to develop relationships.

  • A sincere interest in helping athletes to maximize their potential.

  • Awareness of the rules and regulations of the Association, Hockey Alberta and Hockey Canada.


The Head Coach must have or be able to achieve the following qualifications and certifications:


  • Hockey Canada - Development 1

  • Hockey Canada - Checking Skills

  • Respect in Sport (Activity Leader)

  • Hockey Canada - Checking Skills

  • VSC (Vulnerable Sector Check)


HEAD COACH SUPPORT AND DEVELOPMENT

St. Albert Raiders coaches have access to the following support tools and learning opportunities. These are intended to support the advancement of coaches within the program.


  • Coach Mentorship Program: Coaches receive mentorship from experienced staff who attend games and practices to provide feedback. This is available regularly but occurs at a minimum once per season.


  • Monthly Check-Ins: The Director of Player Development stays in contact with coaches to provide guidance.


  • Coaching Resources – Raiders coaches receive free access to:

    • The Coaches Site

    • IHS (Integrated Hockey Systems)

    • Internal: Raiders Coach Resource Library


  • $500 Wellness Account – Coaches can draw from this at any point in the season to support their overall well-being.


  • Program Onboarding Meetings – Held in June and August, in person.


  • Coach Education Night – Hosted in October, with an annual theme. 2024 theme, “Tools for Setting Your Season Up for Success”.


  • Coach Honorarim, varies by division and level of play.
